Since the day you were born

You brought me so much joy.

I was so excited when mom let us keep you,

I got to have a cute puppy pitbull boy!

From then on,

You made me happy every single day.

When I came home angry or upset,

You always took the pain away.

You would run over to me, wagging your tail

As soon as I walked through the door.

It’s like all my problems disappeared;

They were released and dropped to the floor.

Recently, we found out you were sick

And didn’t have much time.

It was like someone stomped on my heart,

A very devastating kind of crime.

Without you here,

My life is empty and sad.

I just hope we gave you

The best life you could’ve had.

I loved the way you’d purr like kitten

And how on our walks you would prance.

Because of all the french kisses you gave,

We always said you were from France.

I loved your fur of black and white with a hint of brindle,

You’re just so soft and cute,

Even when you would sit there and beg,

Shift your legs like your mother used to and let out a toot.

I loved how after you woke up from a nap,

Sometimes your top lip would be stuck;

It exposed your little rat teeth,

And you didn’t give a fuck.

I loved how you would sit up on the couch like a human,

Looking cute as can be.

I’d run to you every time,

It was just too much cuteness for me.

I loved our times on the deck,

Soaking up the sun.

I loved all your energy,

You made life so much more fun. 

I could go on and on,

Because I loved everything about you.

You’ve always been there for me,

The only love that’s been unconditional and true.

This hurts so much,

I’ll always miss you and that adorable face,

But you’re not suffering anymore,

You’re up with God, in a much better place.
