As God was strolling down the beach,

He saw you in the distance.

When He reached you, you remained still

And He could tell you needed assistance.

Thoughts were running through your head:

“Where am I? Where do I go now?

I miss my family

Can I return to them somehow?”

“I lived life to the fullest

And I did it my way.

I made countless memories with friends and family

And I felt loved everyday.”

You were staring out into the water,

Which never seemed to end.

You felt lost and scared

God knew you needed a friend.

He put his arm around you and said

“Don’t fear my child, for I will take care of you.”

You looked into his eyes

and knew it to be true.

Your pain is gone

You shall suffer no more.

It’s time to move on

And open a different door.

God said “come with me” as He took your hand.

You felt safe and less alone.

“Where are we going?” You asked Him.

God smiled and replied “My dear, I’m taking you home.”

I wrote this poem for my Aunt GiGi who recently passed away. RIP Aunt GiGi, we love you!
